Dom van der Laan in Waasmunster
Hilde de Haan and Ids Haagsma have transformed a previous issue of Thematismos into an actual book publication.
The book “Dom van der Laan in Waasmunster” gives an overview of everything Van der Laan has caused and influenced in Waasmunster. Most importantly: Roosenberg abbey (1978), a remote building for a contemplative order which is among Van der Laan’s best works. His architectural theory concerning the Plastic Number was just completed, and at this very place he was given the opportunity to express his theories in practice. Each visitor immediately experiences the unique qualities: the sober materials, the calm and quiet spaces and especially the unity of the whole, thanks to the underlying order.
